BEDTIME TUNE
by John T. Baker
The wise old cat would always know
When they’d become spell-bound,
And so she’d end with one last tale
That made less sense than sound.
She’d put the kids to bed and then
She’d softly, softly croon,
The while she gently rocked them both,
This little bedtime tune:
Kring, dring, jopple jing,
Wubble, glubble, glong;
Smill, krill, popple pling,
Jigly, swiggly song.
Groggle, smoggle, chuggle chang,
Drickel, bickel, bong;
Smiggle, quiggle, guggle glang,
Chitzy, spitzy song.
Triggledy, piggelmy, zigglety zish,
Hickitty, zappity zong;
Krockerty, dockery, kriggledy krish,
Snigglely, snugglely song.
