by John T. Baker
A Yankee lad was wounded on A South Pacific isle; The medics tried to treat him but Decided after while They must evacuate him, his Condition was so serious; He lapsed into a fitful state, Increasingly delirious. They flew him to Australia to A fine hospital bed; When he awoke he looked around . . . Was he alive or dead? He called a nurse and weakly asked, "Did I come here to die?" She took his hand, "No sir," she smiled, "You came here yesterdie."
