FORTITUDE
by John T. Baker
Young Master Johnny, six years old, Was circumcized one day; When back in school, he felt some pain Which caused him soon to say, "Please, Teacher, I must see the nurse!" But in the nurse's room, Embarrassed, he could not explain What made him squirm and fume. The nurse at last suggested that He call his mom to see If she could come and pick him up To ease his agony. He made his call, the nurse returned And noticed at a glance That Johnny's little dilly now Was hanging out his pants. He started back to class, the nurse Said, "Johnny, hold on, dear! You cannot walk around like that!" The boy brushed back a tear. "My mommy says she's sorry and She hopes it won't upset me; If I can stick it out till noon, That's when she'll come and get me."
