COFFEE
by John T. Baker
In my addictionary, The one that’s best for me Is coffee, blessed coffee - It bolsters my esprit. I love that rich aroma, I crave that hot caffeine; It makes this life much brighter, My problems more routine. It's great up in the mountains, It's wonderful at sea, It lifts me by my bootstraps Wherever I may be. There's nothing wrong with brandy - That's dandy apres-ski - And sometimes I am tempted To sip a spot of tea, But coffee gets me going, Fires up my energy; It starts the juices stirring Like liquid TNT. If I can't find Hereafter A decent cup of Joe, I just might exit Heaven And try my luck Below.
