WHERE IS IT WRITTEN?
by John T. Baker
Where is it written I am not to weep The while my anguished heart in sorrow throbs? Who has decreed that even in my sleep I am denied the privilege of sobs? Why should my inner grief remain unheard, My need for consolation stay suppressed? Is it required I keep my eyes unblurred From acid tears that deep engulf my breast? What rule of man or God demands that I Refrain from evidencing pain I feel? How can without the ointment of a cry A wounded soul hold hope the hurt may heal? To suffer silently, to languish mute, Is idle pride and folly absolute.
