After the Waiting

I see I've wasted all these lonely years,
aware of something wonderful out there
beyond my ordinary world… somewhere,
but I was too afraid, too full of fears
to step outside the life I knew, and yet
that's where you were! You've shown me what could be,
you've given me a chance, a magic key
to unlock joy. I've grown up since we met.

Though now I stand alone and I'm afraid,
(my safe world left behind me as I face
the exquisite uncertainty of you),
I can't regret decisions that I made
to leave the old, to slam the doors and race
with open eyes and heart toward the new.
