Glowing at the Mall

It’s push and shove today as crowds infest
the Mall because it’s Saturday, and rain
is falling steadily outside. We’re blest!
We’re in our element -- I must explain:
we flit from brightly decorated store
to store. It’s almost Christmastime again.

So much to buy! We spend our cash, want more,
and use a credit card... it’s like a test
to see who buys the most. We know the score.

It’s Christmas, right? You know you’ve gotta give,
and give until it hurts. That’s how you show
you care. Perhaps there’s more, but please forgive
us if we seem obsessed with cash, and blow
our budget every year... it’s how we live;
it’s how we get that special Christmas glow.
