The Tapestry Unfolds in a Country Graveyard

A daisy shakes its fluffy golden head,
rare orchids show their blooms of palest green,
and starry flowers of Milkmaids can be seen;
while in the shade soft ferns and mosses spread.

The Kangaroo Grass slowly turns to gold
and eucalyptus scent wafts on the breeze;
Echidnas poke about beneath the trees,
and Willie Wagtails flirt their tails and scold.

Weeds race along where lichens count small gains
and modern granite headstones sit between
old graves with crumbling walls – a peaceful scene,
where sunshine alternates with soaking rains.

Here life is mixed with death, and new with old
combines – one sees the tapestry unfold.
