Where Are the Birds?
The dams are overflowing
The pasture's glowing green
Canola's budding golden,
Where woodlands once were seen.
The trees have fallen to the axe
There's no more ironbark here
The birds have faded from the scene,
No birdsong thrills the ear.
There isn't any brilliant flash
From Red-capped Robin's crown
There's not a warbler to be heard,
Now all the trees are down.
