among the few and lucky ones are we
our paths have chanced to touch a star as he
whose strength and grace were guides along the way
inspiring all to live the best we may

to Robert now I sing, whose love was shared
a gentle soul with courage yet he dared
to bare his soul his ardor thoughts and tears
his words remain a comfort through the years

-Michael Pollack

After retiring from the mental health administration field, Dr. Robert Kogan became well known and loved among Internet poetry circles from the early to late 90's. He died of cancer on June 8, 2000. This site is comprised of his contributions to P.O.E.M.S., an email journal devoted to rhyming verse which, along with Michael Pollack, Bob Badger, and Mary Sullivan, he co-hosted from 1997-2000. His poems are presented here in the order in which they appeared in the newsletter. Also featured, with permission, are selections from his book, Rhymes of Romance; Poems of Passion. A subsequent book, Love Heals: 31 Days of Loving You, is also available online.
